But while she may be at the forefront of this standalone expansion, she’s not alone, and employs a team to assist her. She can, for example, dress a geisha to fool her enemies. What’s particularly cool about Aiko’s Choice which, as you might expect, focuses on protagonist Aiko, is that she can employ disguises. The Metal Gear Solid style cone-of-vision ensures you know just when your enemies are looking your direction but, despite this, you should be prepared for a challenge. We reviewed the original back in 2017, concluding that “its mix of stealth, strategy and action is a highly enjoyable one.” What makes it and, by extension Aiko’s Choice, stand out is that, unlike Ghost of Tsushima and its ilk you view the battlefield from a top-down perspective. Aiko’s Choice’s release is particularly timely, given it’s been five years since the original Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun launched. The bad news is that we’ve already used this year’s allocation of “going for a slash” gags so we’re going to have to really rack our brains for puns.
